DIY Laundry Sign | Personal

As some of you know, Michael is in his LAST SEMESTER OF SEMINARY! (*High fives all around!!!*) But in order to do this, he took a crazy amount of classes last semester! (And worked two part-time jobs. My husband has one of the most amazing work ethics I’ve ever seen! Seriously though). On top of that, I was working full time at my “day job” and in my spare time I devoted my weekends and evenings to my photography business. (Again, no complaints. I love what I do!) All that said, laundry around the Morefield household had been going like this.

Wash. Dry. Dry. Dry. Sometimes wash, wash, dry, dry, dry. (That’s one load people). Now, if I did in fact take that clean laundry out of the drier and bring it up to our room, it most likely stayed in the basket in the front, left corner of the room. Partially behind the door. (Convenient placement, no?) It actually became quite a routine. Anything in the front left side of the bedroom was clean. In the basket or on the floor. Anything mid-room was most likely dirty. (I say most likely because deciding my outfit in the morning tends to get a little out of control. Hence, a few clean shirts, maybe a pair of pants, most likely a scarf or two will get into the “dirty section” mix). But none the less, that had been our organized chaos the last few months.

As any creative, crafty hearted soul….Pinterest is my inspiration. My sweet spot. The place Michael sometimes probably wishes didn’t exist. (Because “my” craft project usually ends up becoming “our” craft project. Hehe) This was the birthplace of my sign. I saw something like it one afternoon, pinned it to my ever growing “Craft It” board, and has remained an aspiration ever since.

Fast forward a few months, and there I was wondering the isles of Hobby Lobby. A very dangerous place for a person like me. (Good thing I wasn’t carrying much money on me…) I came across some letters. Some funky, fresh, swank letters. “Lacey, don’t.” I reasoned with myself. Too late. They had been seen. I had to get them. L.A.U.N.D.R.Y I mismatched the fonts, the colors and yes! There it was! (Now full disclosure, I was talking on the phone as I picked them out and totally misspelled the word…had to make a second trip to fix my mistake). I excitedly bought them, and then they stayed in the bag for the next month. Maybe two.

The week had finally come! The week my sign became reality. I pulled out an old scrap board, a handful of nails, the hammer, and my marvelous letters. I marked away–pounded away. (And after every significant hint of progress I would call Michael in to affirm my work. A common occurrence during my crafting). After about an hour…there it was. My sign!

Now here we are. Officially one week into Michaels last semester of his Masters, and I’d like to think this sign will inspire me to do more laundry. Hehe…

Time will only tell.
