Morefields on the Move!!!! | Personal

Oh yeah!!! You read that right!!! WE’RE MOVING!!! This has been a long time coming folks, and finally, in only God’s amazing way, He answered where to!! Our conversations (the last 4-5 months) have sounded like this… “Wherever we move” and “whatever job we have” and “whichever state we end up in.” Until recently…let me tell you the story.

A year ago (in May to be precise) Michael came to me and said, “Lace, I think I can graduate early!” We started figuring class loads, credits, money…it was going to be a hard following year, but (as they say) we tightened up our bootstraps and buckled in for the ride! We entered the first year with anticipation, what was this going to look like for us practically? Let me say–it wasn’t easy! Michael was working two part-time jobs coaching high school soccer and writing grants, all the while taking a crazy amount of Masters classes! To top it off, he made it a priority to spend time with me! (To this day, I don’t know how he did it!) I was working full time at a medical supply company (my day job) and doing photo shoots, editing, and keeping up with the house as best I could (my night job). Life was insane! But we had a goal in mind. A goal–that at many times seemed far off. Haha would this semester ever end??

But we made it to Christmas break! A little beaten, a lot worn…but in one piece. And it came just in the nick of time! After a relaxing week at my childhood home in Colorado over Christmas and then another week with Michael’s family (second Christmas! Who doesn’t like that!?), Michael began the nerve wracking process of sending out applications for jobs….and so, the search began.

It was quite the process. He spent days filling out personal information forms, writing cover letters, diving into each new position. (What a “time off” huh?) Each application he sent out, we researched the church, the town, and prayed. Prayed hard. There were many times of silence. Times we felt down or discouraged. It was in these moments the Lord made Himself abundantly near! One time we felt like we had hit bottom, and decided to do what we knew was the only answer. Pray. So we did–and I’m not kidding, five minutes later Michael’s phone rang! Someone calling to tell Michael how impressed they were with his resume and interested in pursuing him. What a personal God!

Second semester (and Michael’s final round of school) made it’s dauntingly beautiful arrival. Days seemed long, the search slow. But gradually we began to narrow. We prayed hard–because there is no sweeter and no safer place than on your knees! God brought us encouragement from friends, nearness from His Spirit, promises from His word. He was preparing our path! We knew beyond a doubt this was true. Whatever the next few months held, He was in charge of every second!

Then out of no where–the search lurched forward at full speed! Our suitcases the next few weeks remained open on our floors! Haha, pack, unpack, wash, repeat! The next couple weeks included us traveling to and through five states! It was a blur! It was exciting as we watched God’s perfect timing plan each day! We had waited so long. Promises rung in our heads, “wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart” and “trust in the Lord at all times, for He is a refuge for you” and “I know the plans I have for you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” And then, we came to Gashland.

From the very start of this job opening–Michael and I knew this one was different. There were so many God ordained moments. We prayed God would direct us, we prayed that our hearts would be on the same page, that our feelings about the church would be mutual. And let me tell you, GOD ANSWERS PRAYERS! God so clearly, so vividly guided us to Gashland!!! Even before visiting the church, we had such peace about the position. And after we visited, our feelings were more than confirmed! The people were genuine & kind. The job exactly what Michael had hoped for (and more!) The location-30 minutes from family!! Could it be that God would give this to us?

For the next few days after we visited we prayed hard! For wisdom for the church as they made final decisions, and that we would trust in Him no matter the outcome. Then the phone call came—-AND THEY OFFERED MICHAEL THE JOB! (Full disclosure, there might have been party hats, balloons and celebration happenings going down in the Morefield household!)

We feel so overwhelmed by the goodness of our God! By His answers to our prayers! We are excited beyond words to move and start the next season of our lives at Gashland! To be a part of His already amazing work! To develop friendships, build community, grow roots! What an amazing God we serve!!! So here we go! As of May of this year–Michael, Maximus & myself will close this beautiful chapter of our lives and trust God’s good, ever-guiding hand!

KANSAS CITY, MO (Gashland, and all our soon to be friends,)

Here we come!!!

Hehe, on a sidenote, we took these pictures the FIRST DAY OF SPRING! Poor Michael…sometimes I don’t think he knew what he was getting into marrying a photographer! Haha but what a good (and incredibly handsome) sport! He even put up with me choosing his outfit. Oh boy! What a keeper!!!
