Wisdom, Wit & Whatnot | Volume Six

I’m happy to announce Wisdom, Wit & Whatnot IS BACK! And did you notice the gorgeous new site it’s displayed on!??! Guys–I’M SO EXCITED! After months and countless hours of rebranding–I think the process is drawing to a close and I couldn’t be happier with the results! I’ll need a whole post in and of itself to share the process, but until then I think I’ll relish in the final product!!! I’m as happy as younger Lacey was on Christmas (and trust me guys, that’s REALLY happy!!!)

Thank you all for being patient with during transitions and crazy life seasons! You guys are the best!!! So here we go! Volume six has arrived!

-If you follow me on Facebook (HERE), you might recall me mentioning something wrong with my foot. Well guys, it’s official. I went to the doctor and she thinks it’s a stress fracture or really bad strain. What does this mean? Oh. I’ll tell you what this means!
-It means grocery store trips involve me riding around on the motor carts! It’s taken me twenty five years to realize how much fun those are!!! Granted, it’s a little difficult to get things off shelves, but I’ve found people are incredibly helpful when you look as pathetic as I probably did (trying to drive and hold my crutches at the same time!!) People were getting milk for me, walking things to my cart, moving out of the way always saying excuse me! Looking back on it now, I should have just given my grocery list to someone to do the shopping for me! (Oh wait. I totally did. Hehe thanks Michael!) 😉
-It’s also REALLY hard to stop smiling while you are wheeling through the store. Like, REALLY hard. I don’t know how legit that made me look, but I couldn’t help it!
-I also learned they apparently do not have a limitless supply of battery life. Mine died. Twice. #embarrassing
-Did I mention it’s my right foot that’s hurt? Okay, well it is. Who here can list one very important thing we all do with our right foot?? You got it class! Drive! Remember a while back I told you that I am now ambidextrous when I edit pictures? Well I just discovered another activity I’m ambidextrous at. We’ll leave it at that.
-So this week I was washing dishes at our sink (located in the corner of our kitchen with two windows on either side). I’m just enjoying myself, I don’t know–probably singing, then all the sudden WHUNKK! A bird tried to fly through the window! I screamed, then laughed. Then laughed harder. Then felt guilty. Stopped laughed. No signs of a hurt bird. So the laughing continued.
-I got a new prime lens this week (happy dancing all around!) I decided to try it out on Moose and OH GUYS! Hahaha, he HATES the camera! (Michael says he takes after his dad!) 😉 Every time I put it up to my face to take his picture he growls and barks and jumps at it. I pull it down and he’s fine. Put it up and just like that, he’s barking again! So I bribed him with peanut butter to take his picture (parenting skills in the making?)
-So we’ve officially lived in our house now for five weeks. At our last place we took too long to introduce ourselves to the neighbors. You know, at some point you enter into that awkward phase of “Hi! We’re the new couple on the block who have been living here for a year! We just wanted to meet you!” We are determined not to let that happen at this place! So since we’ve moved in I keep telling Michael I’m going to make cookies so we can take them over to their house and introduce ourselves! I’m happy to announce we made the cookies! I regret to inform you, we ate the cookies. I’ll try to do better next time.
-I love living close to family! This last Sunday Michael preached and his family came up to hear and then hang out with us for the rest of the day! I made homemade pizza (Margarita, Italian Sausage, Pepperoni & Jalepeno and Bacon in case you were wondering!) We had Cesar salad and lemonade then all spread out on the living room floor and watched a movie! The boys went to a Sporting KC game and then the girls shopped, ate appetizers on the patio of Bar Louie & did our nails. I’ll never stop being grateful for my family and the sweet bond God’s given us!
-So Fourth of July. My father in law smoked the meat starting at 4 am (yes A.M!) That morning. It’s an appropriate time to be jealous. Spikeball was played (no, I didn’t play it. I still have hard feelings since my knee surgery injury from it last year!) There were dessert and fireworks and family and games.
-AND at long last, PICTURES OF OUR LIVING ROOM! I finally got around to taking a few snap shots of the decorations! I’m loving making our new house a home! (And yes, decorating. I LOVE decorating! But no one knew that about me!) Thank you mom for coming in and joining me in creative genius and Michael for giving us free reign in the process. (Aka: Leaving the house because watching us with power tools is indeed a scary thing. I believe ignorance is bliss is the saying we’re looking for here…..) I couldn’t get shots of the three paneled window or tv area, but after many requests for pictures–I have heard your cries! 😉
