Wisdom, Wit & Whatnot | Volume Seven

You ever feel like those weeks where it just “happened.” Like, you KNOW it happened and KNOW that there were some pretty rad things that went down…..but for the life of you, you just can’t remember the details???? Yeah. Totally feeling that right now. So I’m going to do my best here people, but I can’t guarantee the results. (I think this is the point where I need to turn on some classical music, get a massage….I don’t know. Do all those really relaxing things people talk about…..)

OH. MY. SOUL! It totally all just came back to me! Like. RIGHT then. Alright…..here we go!

  • So this last week our church put on Kanakuk Camp! Meaning zip lines, rock climbing walls, vans of college age counselors investing in kids lives and lots of teaching about Jesus!!! All this = AWESOME! It also meant that Michael and I got to host four college guys to stay at our house for the week! This also = AWESOME! (Summary of our time with them: whole basement floor covered in mattresses, going downtown to eat at a local wings place. Ordering a HUUUUUGE platter and thinking to myself, “There is NO way we’re going to finish all of those!” Then I remembered they were four college guys and my husband. We finished it. Double batch of homemade chocolate chip cookies, Mad Gab around the kitchen table and lots of laughs. Introducing them to Shatto Milk. Mm hm. Yep. They loved it! Movie nights and huge bowls of popcorn. Oh yeah-and me trying to set them up! Shameless plug-if you’re single and want to meet someone, let me know and I’ll see what I can do! Fewf! Okay, I know that didn’t seem like a summary but I promise it was!)
  • I love to cook, but can we all stop and just appreciate frozen pizza for a minute? Okay. Thanks.
  • I shot a high school Senior shoot. In yellow flower fields. Did I mention it was at sunset?? And on top of all that, when Michael and I interned together at his church one summer when we were dating years ago, Jenna was in Middle School! So combine all the above mentioned facts and add to it that I got to see a beautiful, grown young woman…..it was pretty great! (Did you miss it? See it HERE!)
  • I officially got my pneumatic walking boot. (After two doctor office visits and a trip to a medical supply company). After walking around in it for about a day I knew for a fact that I wouldn’t be able to maneuver smoothly in it during my wedding this last weekend. I talked it over with Michael–his thought was to put Tiger Balm on my foot to make it numb, load me up on Tylenol then get me some orthopedic shoes that to quote him, “We’ll make look fancy.” HAHAH! The only thing I could think of is bedazzling them! Flashback to childhood anyone?? Thankfully orthopedic shoes were not in my future, but I did invest in some not-so-cute-but-also-not-completely-awful shoes. To everyone who prayed for my foot this last weekend during my wedding—YOU ALL ARE LIFE SAVERS! God heard and answered! Besides achey feet of being on them for 10+ hours, I could still walk! (PS Continued prayers appreciated for this weekends wedding!)
  • Speaking of the wedding–guys my couple from this last weekend were incredible!!! They were sweet and authentic and kind and genuine! They were full of love, not only for each other but for everyone there. I mean, you know it’s an incredible bride when after you get done taking pictures of her bridesmaids she turns to you and says she wants one with you!!! Michelle and Alex, YOU are why I love what I do!

  • Operation “Cookies to the Neighbors” follow up: You can now rest assured. We have FINALLY delivered them! And no, we did not eat another batch of cookies!
  • Going to the pool with Michael is moving up on my top list of outings. Movie theaters, if you’re reading this, don’t be offended. We will always love you. But relaxing in the sun, talking, having no agenda with my hubs. I love it. This coming Friday we’re going out on the lake on his grandparents boat all day and I. Can’t. WAIT!
  • During the Fall through Spring I’m a part of an amazing group of women’s Bible Study…but during the Summer we take a break. This last week we had a get together to catch up on life. Oh I love each of those ladies. If you’re reading this, I think we need to start a countdown till the first day of Bible Study! 😉
  • So we have what we like to call “spontaneous movie nights” with some of our good friends from our church. Random nights. Unplanned. (You’re probably saying, ‘I know Lacey. That’s what spontaneous means!’ Hahah I see that now! These last four sentences were useless). Anyways, tonight is one of those nights!!! So I’m frantically typing away to get this post done before we head over to their place. Popcorn will definitely be involved. And we are all on the same page that we cannot watch movies that are out of season (Aka: While You Were Sleeping = Christmas. You’ve Got Mail = Fall. You get the picture…..) So that’s it for me this week!
