Wisdom, Wit & Whatnot | Volume Eight

WisdomWit+WhatnotCan you believe our series has been going for eight weeks!?!? (Okay, okay. Man you guys have good memories! A little longer than eight if you remember the couple weeks I missed during our move!) I love sharing the not-so-curated moments in my life. Although I don’t know who all reads this each week, my hope is that you all would be encouraged, have a few laughs and realize that I care about you all and care about staying connected and that’s why I write this each week!

-Boxers + bees = trips to the animal hospital. This week Moose got stung not once–but TWICE! The first was his right ear lobe. Poor baby. It swelled up to a good three inches thick!! We took him in to get some shots to decrease the swelling. I can’t be certain, but maybe he was trying to get vengeance on the attack and today I called him inside and his eye looked like Will Smith from Hitch! (If you don’t understand this reference–go watch the movie then check back in!) 😉 It was almost swollen shut so Michael and I loaded him back up into the car and took him back to the animal hospital. We walked in and they were like, “Moose!” Apparently we just got bumped up to a first name basis.
-Speaking of the pup, this last week he got out of our backyard. At first I thought he was Houdini until I did a little research and found out that the gate latch fell off and he just pushed the door open. Not so genius after all! Anyways, until we discovered how he got out we were going out to the backyard with him to make sure he didn’t escape again. It’s really not a fun thing to go outside every time the dog has to do his business….but one evening just after the sun slipped beneath the hill I stood out on the deck and leaned against the rail and watched flickers of golden spots light up the yard and the trees behind our house. In no rush to get back inside I stood out there in the midst of the quiet night. It seemed magical. And in that moment I was happy Moose brought me outside with him.
-If you didn’t read last weeks post (CLICK HERE) I mentioned we were going to go out on Michael’s grandparents boat. And guys, this happened!!! We went out Friday with no agenda. We took lemonades and snack, sunscreen and bathing suits drove the boat out to the center of the lake, threw the anchor in and talked and swam the afternoon away. I loved floating next to the boat on the giant tube–getting the warmth of the sun on my back while dipping my hands and feet in the water. Waves rocking me–having heart to hearts with Michael and his mom. Before we knew it we had been out there till almost 5! Getting to relax before shooting a wedding Saturday did Michael and I good. Real good.
-SATURDAY! It was wedding day! The venue was at Red Barn Farm–gosh, such a lovely location! There were cowboy boots, hats, old Chevy trucks and lots of family! If you don’t follow along on Facebook click HERE to watch for their pictures!! You won’t wanna miss them!
-So a little embarrassing–I honestly don’t know how, but I totally plucked my eyebrow too far. I’m currently rocking the one and a half look. HAHAHAH! Yes. True story! Thankfully I have swoopy (is that a word?) bangs on one side so you can’t tell too much. But now I’m telling the world. So that defeats the purpose. Hahahahah!
-Sunday morning I was picking out what I was going to wear to church. Some nice Christian music was playing loudly in the background–you know, getting me in the mood to worship. If you don’t remember my intense hatred of spiders, you can read about it HERE (click, then scroll to the bottom). Anyways, I think you know where this is going. I was looking through my dresses, pulled one out to see if I wanted to wear it and there it was. That eight legged fiend crawling up the side of the dress! I screamed and jumped back at least five feet and started to run from my closet. I stopped then composed myself. I turned around, grabbed my nearest flip flop and murmured, “Wheeeeeere are you………? Oh, theeeeere you are……” And with complete dignity I wound up and smacked the dang thing about seven times yelling, “DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE!” (So much for the Christian music…..)
-After church on Sunday Michael and I went out to lunch with the 20-30’s group from our church! The more time I spend with them, the more I love ’em! (And let me tell you, this last week we waited over an hour for a table! That = no fun. But it also = lots more love!)
-Michael and I spent Sunday through Tuesday morning at his parents house in Overland Park. We’re firm believers that you’re never too old for family time! (And sleepovers!) And to prove that we aren’t the only one’s that believe that, we got there late Sunday night and my brother and sister in law had thought the same thing!! WE LOVE IT! The weekend was spent going to Lamar’s Donuts, venturing back out on the boat (might be a new favorite pass time!), watching movies and making memories. Plus Moose loves it because he gets to play with his “best friend” (because duh! Dogs can totally have best friends!) Wrigley–my in laws dog!
-So this morning I’m working, responding to emails and such, and you’ll never guess what happened!? A PRAYING MANTIS crawled across my desk! RIGHT!?! So with much care I directed him into my yogurt parfait mug I had just finished then gave him a first class ride to the great outdoors! And he even got more to eat than a bag of peanuts!
-I could keep telling stories, but I have about a million pictures to edit before leaving for Colorado to attend the Creative at Heart conference! (Guys—TOTALLY excited!) And just a little heads up, next weeks post will probably be coming to you later on in the week! They’ll be lots of stories about people I meet, travel ventures (never a dull moment with Lacey) and getting to see my family, my nephew and my sister and her darling baby belly! Stay tuned!!!!
