Boho Desert Elopement | Styled Shoot

This styled shoot has been a dream in the making.

Let me back up.

At the beginning of the year I had pulled out my list (yes, I’m one of “those” people) and begin writing my goals for 2017. Most of them were practical business goals, but then a I had a section of ones that were a bigger. Kind of like, “I hope these will come true, but won’t hold my breath for them” goals. We all know what I’m talking about. After being asked to be a part of Wild Hill Flowers Woodland Inspired styled shoot (see it here) in July, I began seriously brainstorming and praying over the one I had been dreaming in my head.

And so it began.

I began pinning ideas off Pinterest and watched for repeated themes to help guide me in a more clear style direction. I knew it would essential in casting a vision for other vendors! It didn’t take long to see where I wanted to head–golds, maroons, navys–we were getting somewhere! So I pulled my top pins and created an inspiration board!

The next step was where I was unsure. It was reaching out to other vendors to see if they would be willing to participate.

The first was Heather from Blue Thistle Cakes (you might recognize her from her featured post here!) Her reply went something like this, “Oooooo YES! Count me in!!!” The next was Ultra Pom Rentals–another yes! And Heart and Soul Florals, “This is EXACTLY the style I’ve been hoping to be a part of!” Then Graphic Designer and water color artist Beth (see her featured post here)–she was in too! The next hurdle was location.

But in God’s perfect timing, enter my sweet friend Abby! Another location KC photographer with the most kind heart! We got together for coffee and ended up talking for three and a half hours! One of the many topics of conversations turned to styled shoots and locations. She began telling me about this AWESOME spot she shot at earlier that year—the only problem was it was 4 1/2 hours away. I got home and map quested it only to find it was in between our home and my sister in laws house! How in the world?! It was meant to be! Now the last piece of the puzzle…..a couple who not only fit the vibe of the session, but who would be able and willing to drive 1 1/2 hours from my sister in laws town to the location.

And HELLO!!!! Molly and Alec couldn’t (I mean COULDN’T) have been more perfect!!!!! Her vision with her outfits were exactly what I was hoping for—maroon lace for her and brown suede for him?! Um, yes please!!!!!

December came and the Lord gave us a 60 degree day! Did you read that? DECEMBER and 60 degrees!!!! My sweet mother in law made the trip across the state with me–candles and carpets and cakes and florals all packed into her car! She didn’t just believe in this dream that I had, she understood the vision and then acted to help make it a reality! As if my heart couldn’t be more full!

So my friends, after all that, this is our result.

And I’m still blown away.

At the talent of my other Kansas City wedding vendors.
At the beauty of my couple & the surroundings.
At the countless answers to prayer.

May I present our Boho Desert Elopement styled shoot……..
