Reed | A Colorado Red Rocks Family Session

It’s amazing watching someone I’ve known my whole life grow up–someone I played imaginary horses with in the basement until we got real ones to ride together in the barn–someone I looked up to, admired, dared to be like. Someone who would sneak into my room in the middle of the night. Who would knock softly on my door from the adjourning bathroom, open it just a crack for a sliver of yellow light to peek in, in order to say “Goodnight. I love you.” Someone I was three years younger than so that when I got to high school everyone knew me as ‘Heather’s little sister”….but I didn’t mind. It’s amazing through each of these stages I got to watch my older sister became a girlfriend, then a wife, then a mother. Times two.

I thought of my older sister–with a take charge, let’s get ’em done personality, wise and smart–and wondered if the baby girl in her stomach would be the same way. Or if she’ll be like my brother in law. Loyal, sincere, kind. I love doing life with these three, soon to be four people I hold so dear. I love reflecting on our stories from our childhood, on our sisterhood. And in all this I wonder and wait with anticipation as the book with chapters that once held memories of just Heather and I thickens and grows more beautiful–holds more people. We can’t wait to meet you baby girl and have you join our stories….
