So before we jump right in I’ll be the first to admit I’ve been slacking in this area (because as long as I say it first, it doesn’t count right?? Heheh) But in my defense I’ve been to California for a gorgeous sunset session (SEE IT HERE but seriously do…it’s probably ranked in one of my favorite session to date!), captured a beautiful beach wedding (SEE HERE), gotten to take pictures of a gorgeous dancer (HERE), document the life of my sweet niece to be at Red Rocks (HERE), was a part of a fairytale floral crown maternity session (SEE HERE)………..okay why am I saying all this? Basically what you should do is just go to the blog and see all the STUNNING people I’ve gotten to work with recently!!! But all that being said, I’ve missed this little outlet of sharing the more random, fun, quirky, unplanned parts of my life!

I don’t even know where to start. So what do I do when I don’t know where to begin? Close my eyes, pick one random memory from the week and say, “This one looks good to me!!!!” 😉

-Two Friday’s ago Michael’s mom (who I affectionately call Mama Mo or Mama Juju) came out to help me with landscaping the front entrance to our house!! Both our creative juices combined and more importantly her knowledge of trees, flowers and shrubs made for one heck of a time!!! I DIYed and white washed a ladder then put planted flowers all over it, we bought a flowering tree (oh I can’t wait to see what it’ll become this Spring!), planted wheat and shrubs and then let our power get a bit to our head and sawed out and shoveled out five bushes!!!! If you follow me on Instagram you might’ve seen my Insta Story! And yes, it is true that I named my newest three shrubs in the front. Bilbo, Frodo and Jolly Cotton! I try not to pick favorites, because what kind of plant mom would I be….but I mean, his name is Jolly Cotton!!!!

-Michael loooooooves Fall festivals! So that night we met up with the rest of his family and we got into the Fall spirit!! Basically that meant eating wings, walking around (well, they walked and Michael gave me a piggy back! Thank you stress fractured foot!) Oh and funnel cakes were included. They were DEFINITELY included!

-I’ve been working long and hard dreaming and designing a new way to love my clients and after a few rough drafts the final booklets to my Family & Portrait Style Guide came in!!!! OH! To have worked so hard and then thumb through the final product in my hands is so rewarded!! I sent out the first batch to some of my upcoming families this last week!! (Eek! Yes, I had feelings of excitement and nerves and anticipation! After many months of work there they went!! Fingers crossed!)

-The forecast predicted sunny skies last weekend–a break from the nice weather to a weekend of rain–then sun again. And you guessed it! Saturday and Sunday I had three sessions scheduled! NONE of them got rained out!! It was a real life miracle!

-I had a fun chick-flick movie night with a few other women last Saturday night! (M&M’s, popcorn, sweats and a Jane Austen based movie! Hehe, Michael was glad I watched it with girl friends!) I’ve come to the conclusion that we (we in this sentence is anyone who will do it with me), need to start occasionally talking in British accents. Because selfishly I laugh a heck of a lot more to a random accent! Can you blame me?

-If we’re friends on Facebook (and we should be because who doesn’t like friends?) then you’ll know that Michael won the best husband of the year award and gave me a photo shoot with my friend Briana from The Grays Photography for my birthday and Monday was the big day!!!!! A little glimpse into what this meant for me: Weeks prior, pinning outfit inspiration. Buying a dress online with the gift card to the Loft he also bought me. (I told you, best husband of the year!) The dress wasn’t all I was hoping it’d be. Time for plan B. Lace top shirt with skirt I already owned followed by texting the endless amounts of pictures to my sisters, mom, friends….etc etc etc. This is your formal apology. Wasn’t sold so I returned the lace shirt but was only given store credit. So obviously I buying another two shirts from H&M. Neither of those went with my skirt from home. Hm. Planned a day with a friend to go to the Legends so I could return the original dress I bought online so I wouldn’t have to spend money because I’d get credit. What I failed to understand was that I was trying to return an online dress to an outlet store and they wouldn’t let that fly! Who knew?? All in all, (what plan are we on anymore?) I ended up wearing a floral dress I adored and a floppy hat my mom got me while she was in town! Then my second outfit was something I already had in my closet. Go figure! 😉 But WOW! If that doesn’t make your head spin, props to you! Props. To. YOU!

-Oh and the photo shoot was GLORIOUS! I searched high and low for a place that had canoes and friends, with hard work comes great pay off!!! I FOUND A SPOT!!!! So yes. Be on the lookout because our pictures include above mentioned outfits, my handsome husband, sunset lighting and canoes!!!

-(If you’ve stuck with me to this part, you’re a champ!) That’s all for this one. Pat yourself on the back and repeat after me, “I’m a champ!!!!”

-I walked into our house from Wednesday night church (Michael was minutes behind me) and flipped on the light only to see one thing. A HUGE spider. At this point I had two options. Option #1: Wait for Michael to get home so HE could kill it. “A great option!” I thought to myself. But then I realized I would need to sit on the step and watch it until Michael got home for fear of it moving between now and then…which led me to Option #2: Kill it myself. I hated this option, but it was looking more and more like the right choice in the moment. Now the spider was a good four feet above my head so I knew that I would need to throw something at it. I also quickly analyzed that I would need TWO shoes (one for each hand). The first would be for throwing and the second a back up shoe in case something went array. I threw shoe number one aaaannnnnd, missed. Not surprising. (Don’t judge, I played soccer! Hand eye coordination is not my thing!) I picked up shoe number one and tried again. Bam! Way too low! Took a deep breath, picked it up and as they say “third times a charm” geared up and BANG! Knocked that sucker right off the wall!!! Screamed (duh!) as he can charging at me!! (Do spiders charge? I swear this one was charging!) Thank goodness for shoe number two because BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! Death to the spider!!! All I have to say is if you were watching me walk away I was probably three inches taller and had a smug smile smeared across my face! Oh and I totally reenacted the whole thing for Michael when he got home and informed him that this does not mean that I’m taking over his spidey-killing duties! 😉

-This last Saturday I shot Brandon and Julie’s wedding….and OH. MY. SOUL! The weather was a photographers dream!!! Low 70’s, cloudy skies then a brilliant sunset to end the day! (See a peek from their wedding at the bottom of this post!) And Brandon and Julie were soo relaxed–truly taking everything in! And guys, literally the whole day we were RIGHT on track with the timeline! (At the beginning of the day I was taking detail shots and I heard Julie and her bridesmaids going over the timeline together—-I mean, if that doesn’t make my heart happy, I don’t know what will!!!!) And to top everything off, Brandon and Julie gave me thank you note with THE SWEETEST tip!! Boy do they know how to make me feel loved and valued!!!! Stay tuned for their wedding—I promise you won’t want to miss it!

-Sunday was church and Bible Study at our house! Then last minute some friends invited us to their house to watch the football game on their back patio that night with big fireplace roaring! The perfect way to relax after a crazy weekend!

-Yesterday was Michael’s day off (which I’ve learned over the last year–HE is my priority!) So in the midst of crazy season I say no to photography on Mondays and spend them with my hubby. We relaxed, went to see a new movie then had a double dinner date at my brother and sister in laws house late last night! Ash and I sat on their living room floor and talked the night away as our men went to play some pick up basketball. I love that we have family that we can also call our friends!!!!

YOU MADE IT! (I know it was a long update….but it’s been forever since an update!) 😉
So until next week friends, I’ll leave you with the sunset shot I promised from this last weekends wedding!
