Downtown Kansas City.
A place of character, of style, of moody spirit around every corner. Old bricks stacked one on top of the other to create a wall of a building of a city quite unique. Chipped sea-green paint edged the oversized garage door in the alley almost abandoned. An uptown, upscale, trendy family of four walked into the scene. Plaid shirts, black heels, loose curls and cropped jeans. Twins. One boy who in a blink will become a man and one girl, already showing signs of the stunning woman inside.
Around corners and up ramps and across worn streets with painted, dashed yellow lines. There, alongside the avenue less travelled we saw it. An old, tall building–reaching so far up I didn’t catch a glimpse of the top. Vines of vivid greens and golden yellows and even a few burnt orange leaves worked their way up, up, up–layering the side bricks with such technique you couldn’t help but follow the unplanned patterns they made. As if the leaves worked their way up the right then fell off the bare vines on the left.
Four people made complete with their dog spent an evening within this set. Perfect for them.
So in style, they became a part of this city they both knew and loved.
