Wisdom, Wit & Whatnot | Volume Eleven

So this is that post that will be all about short hair. OH BABY! (Yes, you read that right). Where to begin….

-If you keep up with me on Instagram 1) I’m impressed because some of my random thoughts are downright cra-cra and 2) If you don’t you totally should because you get the inside scoop into my mind. Anybody gone through my Insta stories? Yeah. Sorry. Hehehe Anywayyyyyys, you’d know that I’ve been all about the change mojo lately. You know, nose ring. I don’t really know what brought that about. Well as if putting another hole in your face wasn’t enough, I decided it was about time to chop my hair.

-So the thought entered.

-And it didn’t leave.

-I toyed with it, played with it, tossed it around and then like every woman decided to take a poll with my support group (aka: my mom and sister). So began the group text. “I’m thinking about chopping my hair…..what say you two?”

-My phone buzzed in less than a minute to look down and see that my older sister had been thinking about doing the same! So of course, I thought it was a sign. Fate. No turning back now.

-From there we stalked Pinterest, copied ideas and texted back and forth relentlessly. Poor Michael, I talked about my haircut feelings for a good week in advance. I think he’s up for some sports conversations to even the playing ground. 😉

-Neither my sister nor I had cut our hair short since before elementary school. ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PEOPLE! Long hair was our safe zone and dude, we were about to parachute out of that plane! What we really wanted to do was take a spontaneous trip to the other ones state and do this crazy thing together. I imagine us walking arms linked down a sidewalk (preferably cobblestone), determined, dressed in high heels and attitude then pushing open double doors to the hair salon in slow motion. Due to kiddos under the age of three, meetings, photo shoots (and the fact that I still can’t wear high heels…thank you stress fracture…) etc etc etc etc this plan was a no go.

-But if you don’t know us Davidson blooded DNA, we are determined women. So I made my appointment and immediately talked with my sister and she made hers within a 24 hour time slot as mine!

-Anyone who as drastically changed their hairstyle might know these feelings but we were mourning our hair. Bahah! You think I’m kidding! Before we had it cut, we were talking about all the styles that we wanted to do that we wouldn’t be able to do after our appointments. I kept asking myself “WWYLHD?” (What would your long hair do? Hehe because everyone knows what that stands for….)

-So, Monday night came and I literally think I had butterflies all night (for my SISTERS haircut!) Hahaha! Sometimes I think we share the same feelings. 😉 Finally….FINALLY, the picture came through on my phone and guys SHE LOOKED GUUUUUUUUD! Mom of two, fit, and sassy!!!! I loved it! And also knew that I couldn’t back out now because she had cut hers!

-We both donated our hair to Locks of Love, so with envelope ready and addressed I walked into the salon. Maybe a little less confident than what I had previously imagined….hehe. (Sidenote: if anyone is looking for an amazing hair stylist in the KC area I’d HIGHLY recommend Maddie at Hairs to You in Parkville! I showed her a couple pictures of what I wanted and she NAILED the style I was wanting!!!!) I asked that the chair didn’t face the mirror because I didn’t want to watch and just be surprised! When she ponytailed my hair, got the scissors and said, “You ready?” I took a deep breath in, “Yeah!” As she began cutting I had this instant of OH MY GOSH WHAT AM I DOING??? But it was too late then, I was committed!

-And let me tell you guys—-I am SO glad I did!!!!! The more I look and play with it, the more I love it!!!! Like LOVE LOVE it! Change friends, I love change!!!

-So…you made it to the end of my drastic haircut and life change (is it really a life change? I’m not too sure. Hehe but we’ll go with yes). I can’t wait to keep trying new styles with it! And I’ll be sure to show you well informed on Instagram! 😉
