Kansas City Newborn Photographer | Riya

There is something so sweet about being a Kansas City newborn photographer. The soft touches and gentle soothing. The look only a parent could give to their child. The tender touches and soft coos. Watching Asha and Kyle care for and hold little one was so natural. Asha, tender and kind. Kyle always ready to step in and care for his wife and daughter.

This last weekend I had the joy of welcoming them into the studio for their newborn session. There was natural light that drifted through the two large windows and into the white space. Asha wore a lovely white and blue floral dress from The Client Wardrobe and precious Riya was swaddled in white with a small blue bow on her precious head of dark hair. The raw, real moments are what I love most about being a Kansas City newborn photographer. Like Kyle holding Riya cheek to cheek, eyes closed shushing her back to sleep or how she curled up so perfectly on Asha’s shoulder.

Our paths first crossed years ago when I photographed a wedding in Kansas City at Executive Hills Polo Club for one of my past couples. Kyle and Asha were guests I chatted with during the dancing and it was immediately easy to see their gentle spirits and kind hearts. We stayed connected here and there over social media and not long after Asha announced her pregnancy I had the joy of photographing her maternity session at Shawnee Mission Park. We ended just moments before the clouds opened and rain poured in.

I can’t wait to get to watch Riya grow into a beauty (I’m sure) just like her mom. This sweet in studio newborn session is the second within the Milestone Collection. Lacey was an absolute joy to work with for our newborn photos! The entire experience was seamless and stress free. One of the best parts was getting to choose a dress from the client wardrobe (filled with the most beautiful dresses in different sizes!) Based on the dress I picked, Lacey crafted the shoot vision, colors and props and suggested outfit choices and accessories for the rest of our family (baby & hubby).

ONCE WE ARRIVED AT THE STUDIO, LACEY MADE US FEEL SO AT EASE. WE WERE A LITTLE NERVOUS BEING FIRST TIME PARENTS NOT KNOWING HOW OUR BABY WOULD TOLERATE THE SESSION BUT LACEY WAS SO PATIENT AND FUN AND KNEW EXACTLY HOW TO WORK WITH US AND OUR BABY TO GET ALL THE DIFFERENT SHOTS (SHE EVEN ENCOURAGED US TO FEED DURING THE SHOOT TO CALM OUR BABY!)

SHE GOT US OUR PHOTOS SO QUICKLY AND WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM! EVERYONE ALWAYS TELLS US HOW MUCH THEY LOVE OUR PHOTOS! LACEY’S PASSION AND TALENT TRULY SHOW THROUGH AND WE ARE SO GLAD WE GOT TO HAVE HER CAPTURE THIS SPECIAL TIME IN OUR LIVES!
