The End Depends Upon the Beginning | Personal

About a week ago Michael and I were having a movie night (one of our favorite past times)! We were watching The Emperors Club. Curled up on the couch, bowl of popcorn at hand, Maximus snuggled beside us, one of the opening lines went like this, “The end depends upon the beginning.” Then to emphasize his point, he paused and repeated. “The end depends upon the beginning.”

I sat there. Those words playing over in my mind. The end depends upon the beginning.

The last three years I’ve gotten the joy of building my photography business. Probably not the way you’d think. I worked a full time job during the day. (God’s wonderful way of providing for us while Michael worked through Seminary! That is another story for another time…) During lunch breaks I’d sit in my car responding to emails from prospective clients. At night I’d edit pictures, post, work on my online presence. On the weekends I’d schedule shoots. All wonderful, beautiful things…but the way I had originally imagined? Probably not.

But as I begin to look back, I realized, God has specifically designed this path for me. He is gently reminding me, “Lacey, the end depends upon the beginning.” He is working in me a deep work ethic. He is showing me how to serve and love my customers to the fullest, no matter how busy my schedule may be. He is giving me clients–one by one–reminding me to trust Him in His faithfulness. He is establishing my business to grow, building a platform (though small now) yet sturdy. He is preparing the foundation. May I always look back at this time and remember this as a vital, important part of future Lacey Rene Studios! A beautiful part. A fundamental, necessary part.

So I want to challenge you. Are you living today like tomorrow depended upon it? Are you aware of all the characteristics that today’s struggles are weaving into tomorrow’s you? All the obstacles that God allowed today, that will point you down the path tomorrow?

Because friends, in your life, in my life—the end depends upon the beginning.
