Sunset at Belvoir Winery | Jonny + Ashley Engagement
July 28th.
As some of you may know, a few days ago Michael and I celebrated our THIRD wedding anniversary! As most of you probably don’t know, Ashley and Jonny spent the day celebrating as well!
Let me explain. It all started July 28th, 2012. It was a gorgeous Colorado day (because lets be honest, that’s most everyday in Colorado!) But this day was different. It was the day I was to marry the love of my life! As I was getting into my white dress, Ashley was putting on her bridesmaid dress. Michael, he walked down the isle to his spot with a breathtaking mountain backdrop behind him. Jonny, he walked to his seat with breathtaking blonde bridesmaid making her way in front of him. Me, I watched Michael….my soon to be husband. Jonny, he watched Ashley….(little did we all know) his one day wife.
And so, their love story began.
This blonde could not go unnoticed! Jonny (smart man that he is) snatched up his opportunity! The night after the wedding he asked Ash to go line dancing with him–Ashley, having noticed him as well, of course said yes! To this day, Jonny still remembers what Ashley wore! (Come on, how cute is that!?!?) And as mine and Michael’s long distance relationship finally came to an end–Jonny and Ashley’s began. (Don’t believe for one second when people tell you long distance is not possible; the four of us are proof IT IS!) Jonny left to attend Cedarville in Ohio on a basketball scholarship while Ashley started her Graphic Design major on a soccer scholarship in Springfield, MO. And so began the endless stream of text messages, skype dates and surprise visits to see each other!
It’s beautiful to watch love grow. I remember Michael and I visiting one Christmas while Ash was home. We were in the car late one night (if my memory serves me correctly–shopping), and the subject of Jonny came up. I remember asking her, “Do you think he’s the one?” I turned to look at her, and between car headlights illuminating her face, I saw her smile and she said, “Yes!”
So on May 28th, 2016–exactly 1,400 days later–their long distance will end. Jonny will watch his bride come down the isle……and who knows, maybe another love story will begin….
Can someone say GORGEOUS!!?!?! Didn’t Jonny do an AMAZING job picking out Ashley’s ring!?
Jonny and Ashley were SUCH naturals at their shoot!!! Seriously! I kept saying, “Oh! Yes-exactly like that!!! Hold that pose!!” And that sunset lighting made everything perfect!!! (I just have to put this in here somewhere…..don’t they look like a life size Barbie and Ken!?!? Right!!!) 😉
I cannot WAIT to watch you become husband and wife! May this be just the beginning to a spectacular love story!! I love you both!!!
