If there is one thing that I (especially) love, it’s my couples engagement session! There are so many reasons why I’ve decided to make this a complimentary part of my package but all of them boil down to one reason: IT’S IMPORTANT! Let me explain…

1) We get to know each other! Maybe not the most technical reason-but certainly no less important-during your engagement session we get to meet each other, interact! I can say with 100% certainty that this first point alone will calm your nerves! I get to hear your stories and how you met and your favorite things to do together! Knowing each other on a relational level even before anything else makes for a great foundation for the rest of our time together not only during your engagement session…but your wedding!

2) You’ll learn the poses! As I instruct you into different poses, first you’ll realize there is no reason to be nervous! You get to watch (and relax) as you realize that you don’t have to do any work! Just listen to instruction and fall into place! So on your wedding day guess what will happen? You’ll be completely confident come portrait time! Why? Because you’ve done this all before! I’ll get a better grasp of the poses you and your fiance are best at and the pictures you gravitate towards.

And huge bonus! If something happens during your wedding day timeline (and lets be honest, there’s always at least one thing unforeseen that happens!) it won’t matter!! You already know each pose, even during a time crunch we’ll a variety of shots!

3) It takes away being camera shy! If we’re honest, about 99% of us (even me!) gets a little anxious as someone starts to take our pictures. We want to look good! What to do with our hands? How bout our feet? (Revert back to point two!) After taking pictures for years I can honestly tell you that most people are more photogenic than they give themselves credit for! Having these couple hours during your engagement session affirms that!

4) Did I mention we get to know each other? Yeah yeah. 😉 So I might have started with that….but that’s how important I think it is! My heartbeat for my business is getting to know all my clients well! I want each one to feel loved, known, cared for! And if I’m honest, I usually become friends with them! (Yes I’ve been to coffee with past brides because we didn’t want our friendship to end the day of the wedding!) So beginning our time together with the engagement session lets you feel comfortable with me and as your wedding day rolls around all the sudden we already know one another, we’ve done life together! Having that key component completely transforms the way pictures are taken! It’s not a here and done kinda thing! All the sudden your stories, your moments mean so much to me because we’re friends!
